MEETING THE WRITERS: AURIE SWARTZ

Job Title: Assistant Director, Office of Future Engineers

Hometown: Dewey, Oklahoma

College Education: B.S., Public Relations, Purdue University

After going to four different school districts in three different states before graduating high school, I stumbled across Purdue thanks to family that moved to Indiana. Little did I know that I would still be here 8 years after starting my first class as an undergrad, now working full-time for the University. It’s a blast to work for my alma mater, sharing my passion for Purdue with others and helping them see if Purdue is the right fit for them.

As the Assistant Director for OFE, I wear many hats. Basically, if you’re a prospective student visiting Purdue Engineering here in West Lafayette, odds are good that you’ll see or hear from me while you’re visiting. If you’re interested in transferring into Purdue Engineering from another university, I’m your first point of contact. I also help oversee an outreach program to admitted students, as well as online chats and live broadcasts for prospective students and families.

Outside of work, I serve on the board of the Purdue Bands & Orchestras Alumni Club to help keep alumni of our distinguished music ensembles connected to Purdue and current students. While I was an undergrad, I was in a Purdue band or orchestra every single semester, including being in the All-American Marching Band for four seasons, so it’s great to stay involved in a program that gave me so many incredible friends and opportunities as a student.

If you have any questions about Purdue Engineering, campus life, bands and orchestras, student organizations, or professional development, I’m more than happy to help!
