Job Title: Communications Intern, Social Media Coordinator
Hometown: Indianapolis, IN
Hello! This is my first semester working for the communications department for the Office of Future Engineers, Minority in Engineering, and Women in Engineering, and I couldn’t be more excited! On campus I am involved with organizations like Queer Students of Color, Boiler Gold Rush, Student English Association, and Boiler Green Initiative. In my free time, I like to read comics, write poetry, watch Netflix, and attend book club with my best friend and coworker, Erin. I can typically be found at the Third Street Starbucks, around Loeb Fountain, or in my very comfortable bed, which I joke is my favorite spot on campus.
Just as many engineering students do, I chose Purdue University for its world class education. The opportunities I could be a part of and the people I get to work with made Purdue the best choice for me. Many people do not know this, but Purdue University’s Department of English is ranked in the top 10 for both undergraduate and graduate studies. Combine that with a beautiful campus at a big, research-based university, and I was sold!
My passion, in both life and career, lies in the environment and environmental
and wildlife conservation. I am working towards minors in both Environmental
Science and Environmental Policy in hopes of going on to law school. I want to
become an environmental lawyer and eventually help to shape and influence
international ocean policy. Starting my higher education at Purdue University,
for me, is the best way to do that!
