Job Title: Office Manager, Office of Future
Engineers
Hometown: Lakeville,
IN
Fun Fact: My favorite
word is “organize.” It’s a command, a verb, a call to action!
My name is
Lindsay Elias and I am the Office Manager for the Office of Future Engineers. I
have been at OFE for 2 and a half years, but have been working for Purdue for
over 6 years. At OFE my job includes a wide range of responsibilities including
taking care of the daily office operations, training the student staff as a
whole and one-on-one on an ongoing basis, meeting with prospective students and
their families, the behind-the-scenes work of keeping an office running, and
keeping everyone on track (which is an important task with our creative staff).
I have certifications in Advanced Lean, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and
Project Management Essentials, all taken online through Engineering
Professional Education at Purdue. I take advantage of every professional
development opportunity Purdue has to offer.
The people
at OFE are my favorite part of the job. They are invested and passionate about
their work, OFE, and helping students. Both the staff and the students care
deeply about their work and are committed to doing their best every day.
Working hands-on and directly with the student staff has been a highlight of
this job as well. I love being able to share my talents with the students and
teaching them important skills and lessons that they will use both in this job
and in their future jobs. At the same time, they have taught me so much more
than I would have ever thought possible. We have a lot of fun and are
always laughing in the office!
In my free
time I enjoy making things by knitting and crocheting. I also love reading and
read on average four books a month! My family is really important to me so when
I’m not working, you can find me spending quality time with them.
