Magaly Mendoza is currently a senior studying
Environmental and Ecological Engineering. In this post, Magaly highlights
her experience at Purdue and being a part of the Purdue community.
What do you like about
the Purdue community that you might not have found by attending another
institution?
One thing I enjoy about Purdue is the feeling
of community. No matter what program you find yourself in you are not alone. My
best friends today first began as my classmates and study partners. At Purdue,
coursework establishes common ground between students.
Beyond academics, a similar level of unity
translates to Purdue's many student organizations. The organizations on campus
are so well developed that by getting involved, I was able to quickly become
part of a bigger network. It has been the foundation for friendships, support
networks, and connections that have provided me with various opportunities
throughout my time at Purdue.
I n what ways is Purdue safe/do members of the Purdue community make you feel like you are safe?
On top of a wonderful engineering program and
support system, Purdue is an incredibly safe community. I have always felt at
home, especially after I became familiar with the campus. As a freshman and
sophomore, I was continually made aware of the various resources on campus.
What advice do you have for future students
who are considering Purdue Engineering?
My time at Purdue has been a great experience.
If you are considering pursuing your education here, I would recommend speaking
to Purdue alumni and graduating seniors. You will hear about what a Purdue
Engineering degree has meant for them and understand the worth of the education
that this institution has to offer.
